The course will cover all aspects of basic hairdressing. You will have the opportunity of working in a salon environment and providing services to members of the public and paying clients.

The course will cover a minimum of nine units including:

• Health and Safety

• Consultation/meeting and greeting clients

• Working in the hairdressing industry

• Shampoo and conditioning

• Cutting ladies and gents hair

• Changing hair colour

• Perming

• Dressing hair up

• Product knowledge

Who is the apprenticeship for?

The course is for anyone aged 16 years and over. It is for those who have a genuine interest in hairdressing and who are dedicated and committed to learning about the hairdressing industry. You must be ambitious and have a creative mind.

What other skills will I acquire?

As well as gaining theoretical and practical skills, you will also gain the confidence to prepare yourself for level three and your future career in the industry. We will also offer refresher courses for those that have a hairdressing qualifications but need further inspiration.

What qualifications are required?

This will be discussed at your interview.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through practical assessment in the salon and theoretical units will be assessed internally by means of oral questions, on-line tests or assignments. This is to cater for a variety of learning needs.

How long is the course?

The course will run for two years, term time only and one day a week for approx 4-5 hours.

How much will the course cost?

Nothing, you will earn while you learn.
